Noon Meeting News – June 27, 2017 – Dennis Fisher – Rada and Joe Carfora – All About Drones

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father in a couple of days we will celebrate the birth of this great nation. Some will look upon it only as a day off from work. A person must be cold indeed who can look upon our flag fluttering in the breeze and not
feel the love of country. You have blessed us abundantly by giving us this great country, by blessing the work we do as Optimists and sustaining us in time of trial. In turn may we all give thanks for Your blessings, for our
nation and for being Optimist. Let us continue to thrive under Your blessings and may diligence, productivity and excellence be the work of our hands and heart for Your glory. Amen!

Today’s Speaker

Dennis Fisher spoke to us about flying drones, or FAA Approved Unmanned Planes. The drones typically fly within 400 feet of the ground, a visual line of sight. According to Fisher, drones will have an 82-billion-dollar impact on the economy by 2025. UAV applications include assisting in FAA/NTSB accident investigations, aerial photos and videos, covering festivals, events, making commercials and sporting events. The pilot must understand the complex uses of airspace.  Fisher acknowledged the misuse of drones especially in the Mideast. He flew a drone around the room and took a group photo. We were all impressed.
