Noon Meeting News – July 18, 2017 – Larry Dillin – Austin Landing South Development Plans

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, we are often challenged by the question. “Why does God allow so much evil in the world?” For many of us we don’t have an answer. It’s like Einstein trying to explain his theory of relativity to a new born baby. Even that probably pales in our understanding of Your greatness. It then requires faith to bridge the gap, by believing in Your written word. We were born with an innate understanding of what is right. Best illustrated by a child’s statement “that isn’t right.” How did we acquire that if not from You? We are blessed to have an all powerful & loving God. We pray that we will grow deeper in our faith and live our lives according to Your original plan being Your heart, eyes and hands in all our contacts with our fellow travelers. Amen!

Today’s Speaker

Scott Langer introduced our speaker, Larry Dillin who is President of VisCap the development company for next stage of Austin Landing. Larry told us that his company’s goal is to create communities. This is seen through good architecture, fountains, open spaces, events and activities. Austin Landing presently has 270 apartments, a Staybridge Inn now open, 400,000 sq ft of office space and is expecting very soon a 12-screen movie theater, 3 more restaurants, 10,000 sq ft of retail space. Although he declined to make a formal announcement, he eagerly discussed plans for the south side of Austin Landing. Density of space, walkability, stimulation of the senses, and public art are important considerations of his company for this and other development.
