Noon Meeting News – February 28, 2017 – Lee Roy Young – Author – “Who is the Greatest Football Program in History?”

Phather Phil’s Prayer

Heavenly Father tomorrow is the beginning of the 40 days of Lent. A time to refocus our thoughts away from the tangible. Make today (Fat Tuesday) the last day for awhile we think of self.
Lent is a time to take the time
To let the power of our faith story take hold of us
A time to let the events
Get up and walk around in us.
A time to intensify
Our living unto Christ
A time to hover over
The thoughts of our hearts.
A time to place our feet in the streets of Jerusalem
Or walk along the sea and listen to his word
A time to touch His robe
And feel the healing surge through us
A time to ponder and a time to wonder.
Lent is a time to allow a fresh new taste of God. Amen!

Today’s Speaker

Lee Roy Young came to speak with us today about his first and newly released book “Who’s The Greatest College Football Program of All Time.” A couple years ago, while talking to his wife about football, she jokingly told him he should just write a book since he knew so much about college ball and so – he did! He spent much of the last two years researching 147 years of football using 32 different systems that would help him determine which program was the very best.

A couple of fun facts we learned today:

  • The first football program started in 1869 with Harvard and Yale – Yale won the game 4-0.
  • In 1904 college football was almost shut down due to so many horrible injuries, so they were forced to change.
