The Centerville Noon Optimist Club sponsors an event every year that allows boys and girls ranging in age from 8 to 13 years a chance to learn basketball skills or have their skills evaluated through competition with children their own age. Each child receives a Centerville Noon Optimist shirt. The contest is in three areas of basketball skills; passing, shooting, and dribbling. Each child participates with boys and girls in age brackets that span two years.  Scoring is awarded on the ability of the child to perform the three skills. Thirty six trophies will be awarded based on the top three competitors in each age with prizes for both male and female. In addition, 36 basketballs will be given away randomly to competitors. There is no charge for entry into the competition and no prior registration required. Registration will take place before the event.  Parents of competitors are invited and encouraged to attend the event. Boys and girls aged in a two year group compete simultaneously. Normally, this event is held in the Centerville High School gymnasium, however this year the event will be held in the Watts Middle School gym from 9:00 AM till Noon.
