The club annually recognizes members and community personnel that personify each of our award's basic community service tenet. The following awards are annually awarded by the club.

RECOGNITION ACTIVITIES

Fire Safety Week

Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technicians Award – The Firefighter Robert O’Toole Award Awards honoring Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians were established after a tragic highway accident in 1998 resulting in the death of firefighter Robert O’Toole. These awards are presented during Fire Safety Week in October of each year.

Youth Appreciation Week

In early November, at a regular Club meeting, a number of outstanding youngsters from the local area are recognized for their accomplishments during Youth Appreciation Week.  The honorees’ parents, along with a school representative, are invited to participate in the program. Youth Appreciation Week offers the club the opportunity to recognize young people active in community service.

Respect for Law Week

Respect for Law Award – The Officer John Kalaman Award

Each year during Respect for Law Week, our Club honors a local law enforcement officer who has exemplified the contributions made by law enforcement officers toward the betterment of youth.  A program held during a regular Club meeting in early May includes an award presentation to the officer and a proclamation from local government authorities related to Respect for Law Week. In 1998, a highway accident resulted in the deaths of Centerville Policeman John Kalaman.  The Club’s Respect for Law Award was renamed in Officer Kalaman’s memory.

Scholarship Awards

Our Club has established a program to provide up to three Educational Assistance Awards each year to graduating seniors residing in Centerville/Washington Township.  A selection committee of several members solicits for applicants in March and reviews applications for the awards to be distributed before the end of the school year.

Educator Award

Each year our Club recognizes a member of our community who is working in or retired from the field of education for their dedication to the youth of the community with the “Bringing out the Best in Kids” Award.

Community Service Award

Businesses and individuals within our community that support activities of the Club are recognized with the Community Service Award.
